Goodbye Downtown Disney- Hello Disney Springs | New Boathouse Restaurant.
Downtown Disney has now been renamed as Disney Springs. Its not just a name change but a huge investment. When its fully completed in 2016, the number of shopping, dining and entertainment venues will increase from the current 75 to more than 150. The Boathouse, which is the latest restaurant to open as part of the Disney Springs development looks stunning and makes the most of it’s location overlooking the main lake. As you walk through the main doors, you see the bar area with an iced raw seafood counter, from which food is served, you can’t get it any fresher than that! if you want to enjoy the view without eating, head to the Dock bar. The dock bar is at the back and has various antique mahogany boats from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s moored for you to look at. Drinks are reasonably priced given the ambience and location. If you fancy trying something a little different, then why not order a pint of Terripan Liguid Bliss, a chocolate peanut butter stout from Georgia, or the more local Big Storm Wavemaker, an amber lager made in Florida! Find a comfy rattan sofa, sit back and enjoy the golden sunset.
Following the hugely successful Wizarding world of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando, Disney have signed an exclusive deal to the rights to use
elements from the film Avatar and its sequels. The lands will be based on the fictional world of Pandora as shown in the film Avatar and can include elements of the story from the sequels due out in 2014 and 2015. The $600m project has construction planned in 2013 and expected to take five years to complete.
The Harry Potter Theme Ride – Hogwarts Express – Diagon Alley
This ride opened in June 2010 is located in the Islands of Adventure theme park. This theme ride is getting some brilliant reviews; its a combined ride and show that takes you on twisting, rotating dark 3D ride through and around Hogwarts castle. This is a ride that surpasses Spider Man, and classed by many as one of the best themed rides in the world. Its seen in excess of 1 million riders in 2 months since opening and has won this year’s Theme Park Insider Award for Best New Attraction.
The Hogwarts Express train and track system grand opened July 8, 2014 and will transport guests from King’s Cross Station in London, part of the new Diagon Alley area inside Universal Studios Florida, and travel over to Hogsmeade Station, set on the outskirts of Hogsmeade inside Islands of Adventure theme park. You can also ride the train in the other direction. This trip will require a park to park admission ticket.
After much waiting and anticipation, Diagon Alley and “London” opened on July 8, 2014 and is located within the Universal Studios Florida theme park, adjacent to Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. This completes a project that visibly began when the Jaws ride closed in early 2012, Diagon Alley is now widely regarded as the gold standard of theme park design, completely immersing Universal Studios Florida guests in a formerly fantasy world, now made real.
Newly Opened Simpsons Ride
The awaited Simpsons Ride opened recently at Universal Studios. Theme park insider.com has voted The Simpson Ride as the “Best New Theme Park Attraction” worldwide for 2008. I would expect the ride to be very popular with a range of ages, from children through teenagers to adult.
The physical aspects of the ride involve boarding a vehicle car and being taken through the Krustyland theme park to quote “over-the-top ride through the park… flying, floating and more or less crashing your way through Krustyland’s kiddie attractions, stunt shows, and thrill rides”. The animation is done through State-of-the-art digital projectors covering an 80 ft. diameter dome surface with an image four times the standard High Definition TV. If its anything like the Amazing adventures of Spiderman ride in Islands of Adventure then I expect it to be visually stunning.
Adventures of Spideman is upgraded to a 3D experience
New high definition animation and 3D glasses creates an amazing immersive experience. The ride always good, has been improved and is getting good reviews, so worth trying out again.
